“ Hong Phat Food Center is housed in a vintage Safeway storefront on the busy 82nd Ave corridor in East Portland. It's perfectly located for quick grab-and-go shopping for folks who lead busy lives. I appreciate the massive parking lot, and the number of checkout stands in the market. These factors allow for corner store convenience in the standard supermarket footprint. Shoppers can run in for one or two items without committing to a lengthy ordeal waiting in line. This Vietnamese market has an outstanding selection of Asian goods. They offer an exceptional variety of high quality produce that is in season and affordable. Also of note is their deli section of ready to consume foods. Hot and fresh, with an umpressive variety of dishes, I often stop here for dinner items I can take home. I love this convenience! The only time I've ever had to deal with crowds in this store is during Asian holidays, or perhaps weekends. Otherwise, there is a well-paced and dependable cadence in the store that makes shopping a breeze. However, I also enjoy lengthy visits where I can discover new products, people watch, and take my time. ”

“ Wandered by after a movie, and they have almost everything! The market is spacious with a broad range of products. They also have a food court section, though a good amount of those offerings are also inside the supermarket. Keep in mind that the categories for different aisles repeat so if you don't find something in one, fear not, it may be nearby! ”

“ Love my asian markets, but this one's special it's huge and has everything produced: snacks, spices, gifts, etc. THEY EVEN HAVE TARO AND TARO LEAF!!!!! FRESH. If you live locally or just visiting and need a special ingredient, go there. Even if you need produce, they are fresh, smell good, and so clean. The people are nice too. ”

“ Great assortment of hard to find asian food items with decent prices. They have hot food items at the fron to the left. Ban mi sandwhiches and fried chicken, pork and pork belly. I like going to get an assortment of sauces like fish sauces and or various vinegars, produces items like mushrooms, and thai basil, kabocha squash or other exotic fruits and veggies or you can opt for snacky things like mochi balls for tea, ramen or even chop sticks and plates. This place is great. ”

“ I like this Asian grocery! I believe they claim it is the largest and most popular Asian grocery store in Portland. They bring in tropical fruits from Hawaii and overall have a huge produce section with herbs and vegetables. I haven't purchased any of their meat or fish. But I do like their snack selection, condiments/sauces, as well as their grab and go prepared foods. ”

“ Stopped by yesterday- so much on offer it was a frenzy: a pound of pork belly ( try it out marinated in the char sui packet they sell it's sooooooo good), some soup bones we use for raw dog treats (wayyy cheaper than Safeway or Freddie's) and some to go - lunch fare - still our favorite can't wait til the Eastport location opens up ( July I'm told)...I added a picture: grilled chicken, pork belly banh mi, fresh shrimp spring rolls, fresh sugarcane juices! ”

Massive amounts. Not necessarily the freshest but very affordable. Asian dry goods. You name it. Japanese kit kats(worth the trip alone). Curry. Spices. Noodles. Oils. Etc. In this inflationary time this place is very affordable and it's worth the trip. ”
